Apps that are integrated with an EMM SDK are typically forced to adopt the routing schemes which are supported and dictated by the EMM. Learn how Appdome shatters that unreasonable trade-off with Adaptive App Routing, putting you, the developer, in control over traffic routing, so you can optimize routing and tunneling to suit your app’s needs.
This Knowledge Base article summarizes the steps on how to route your mobile app’s traffic through an EMM or MAM VPN tunnel using Appdome’s Mobility suite, where YOU choose and control the routing protocol and methods used according to what’s best for your use case, and your app (not the EMM).
Appdome’s Mobility suite can be added to any iOS or Android app instantly, with no code or coding.
We hope you find it useful and enjoy using Appdome!
First Implement your choice of EMM SDK.
Appdome is a mobile integration platform as a service (iPaaS) that allows users to add a wide variety of features, SDKs, and APIs to Android and iOS apps. Using a simple ‘click to add’ user interface, Appdome allows developers and non-developers to easily integrate an EMM SDK to any mobile app – instantly, no code or coding required.
Using Appdome, there are no development or coding pre-requisites. Customers and developers are free to choose the routing scheme that best suits their app. For example, there is no Appdome SDK, libraries, or plug-ins to implement. Likewise, there are no required infrastructure changes and no dependency on Microsoft’s Intune, BlackBerry’s GOOD, or any other EMM vendor.
Appdome No-Code Adaptive App Routing – puts the customer in the driver’s seat and preserves app functionality and performance.
Likewise, there is no requirement to implement tunneling or to control the network flow for all 3rd party network libraries for developing Adaptive App Routing capabilities for Android or iOS apps. The Appdome technology adds any EMM SDK and relevant standards, frameworks, routing protocols to the app automatically. All this happens for any native or non-native apps without any development work for the app maker or developer.
Prerequisites for Using Appdome for Adaptive App Routing
In order to use Appdome’s no code implementation of EMM Managed Routing on Appdome, you’ll need:
How to Add Adaptive App Routing to Any iOS or Android App on Appdome
Follow these step-by-step instructions to add Adaptive App Routing to Any Mobile App:
Upload a Mobile App to Your Account
From the Build tab, select the Management category
- Under Enterprise Mobility Management, toggle on EMM Service
- Choose the desired EMM vendor
- Under the Appdome Mobility Suite, click the Adaptive App Routing Toggle to enable the feature. (By default the app will Route All Traffic to the EMM)
- (Optional) Specify a list of addresses you want to be tunneled by the EMM.
- (Optional) If you only want the app to route only specific URLs to the EMM, click the “Inclusive routing” toggle.
- (Optional) SmartMedia™ Routing enables media player streaming and allows media files to be sent over any secured EMM Tunnel for any mobile application.
- (Optional) If you’d to apply EMM tunneling and policies to Safari components then enable Safari Routing.
- Choose additional components from Appdome Mobility Suite or other feature bundles like BoostEMM, ONEShield, and FIPS 140-2 complacence
- Click Build My App
The technology behind Build My App has two major elements – (1) a microservice architecture filled with 1000s of code sets needed for mobile integration, and (2) an adaptive code generation engine that can recognize the development environment, frameworks and methods in each app and match the app to the relevant code-sets needed to add an EMM SDK to the mobile app in seconds. For example, the technology of Routing the app’s traffic Dynamically to the EMM, work that ordinarily, a developer would need to do.
Congratulations! You now have a mobile app fully integrated with Adaptive App Routing.
After Adding EMM Routing Schemes to a Mobile App on Appdome
After you have added your EMM Routing Schemes to any Mobile App on Appdome, There are a few additional steps needed to complete your mobile integration project.
Add Context™ to the Appdome Built App
Appdome is a full-featured mobile integration platform. Within Context™, Appdome users can brand the app, including adding a favicon to denote the new service added to the app.
For more information on the range of options available in Context™, please read this knowledge base article.
Sign the EMM enabled Appdome Built App (Required)
In order to deploy an Appdome-Build app, it must be signed. Signing iOS apps and Signing Android apps is easy using Appdome. Alternatively, you can use Private Signing, download your unsigned app and sign locally using your own signing methods.
Deploy the Appdome Built App to a Mobile Device
Once you have signed your Appdome-Build app, you can download it to deploy it using your distribution method of choice. For more information on deploying your Appdome-Build apps, please read this knowledge base.
That is it – Enjoy Appdome’s Adaptive App Routing in your app!
