One of the biggest problems facing enterprises going mobile in 2018 is too many apps lack critical services before they can launch – and not enough resource (budget, time, or developers). An innovative mobile integration platform from Appdome aims to tackle the issue. Appdome aims to accelerate the rollout of mobile apps by making it easier for organizations to add third party services such as mobile security, mobile identity and mobility management to Android and iOS apps – all without coding.

Key Findings: A Look at Gartner’s 2018 Market Guide for Mobile Application Management
by Nathaniel Lewis in Best Practices, Staff Pick
    Mar 1, 2018

Gartner has recently released its new Market Guide for Mobile Application Management. Gartner highlights the following providers in data preparation: Apperian, Oracle, Pulse Secure, BlackBerry, Citrix, IBM, Microsoft, MobileIron, Sophos, VMWare, Appdome, Better Mobile Security, and Blue Cetworks. At Solutions Review, we read the report, available here, and pulled out the key takeaways. In regards to the future of standalone mobile application management, Gartner doesn’t see the demand for this offering going away anytime soon. This is due to the continued drivers in this demand being employees and contractors working for multiple employers. Gartner details three scenarios through which MAM functionality is consumed; standalone MAM tools for organizations looking to simply manage apps, app licenses, and operate a branded app store, MAM using EMM suites, and organizations looking for mobile application management features through app-centric security solutions.

Mobile App Management" now focuses on overcoming the limitations of mobile device management
    Feb 13, 2018

    Gartner

(Apperian)
(Pulse Secure)

    IBM

Despite its lack of expanse and overall promotion within the event, the mobility zone at VMworld 2017 was filled with terrific companies with forward-looking solutions, making it a must-see section of the Showcase Village. That’s where Enterprise Mobility Exchange spent most of its time, meeting with and learning more from industry experts to understand where their product was today, and how it could help businesses tomorrow. After being on site for three days, Enterprise Mobility Exchange published wrap-up articles from Monday and Tuesday of the week, which can be seen here and here, respectively. Some awards were handed out as well, two of which went to mobile-focused companies. Appdome was named the Judge’s Choice: Startup Spotlight winner. The company, which is a cloud-based hub for mobile app integration, launched fully in February of this year.

Appdome will host apps for ISVs, and then automatically integrate SDKs on demand for enterprise customers. This means that ISVs can get out of the business of integrating and supporting different SDKs for different customers. Instead, Appdome is taking on that responsibility. (Appdome also takes care of notifying customers when app or SDK updates are available.)

It’s RSA week, so we have a wide range of announcements to cover. We featured Bromium and Centrify, and weighed in on the Windows Cloud rumors, too. The RSA Conference ran in San Francisco this week. I went over for a few meetings, and along the way learned about some new products and got a feel for this year’s trends. Of course RSA is primarily a security show, not an EMM/desktop virtualization/EUC show, but there were still quite a few relevant announcements. Appdome augmented its partnership with BlackBerry by adding support for more features in BlackBerry Dynamics, and has broadened the overall reach of their platform.

Your Free Award-Winning Mobile Security Suite
    Oct 21, 2016
What would enhance broad adoption of mobile app security? Perhaps if the service was both free and comprehensive.

That's the thinking behind Appdome’s latest move. The mobile industry's first cloud service that automates mobile integration, Appdome will offer its award-winning security suite to all users of its new mobile integration AppFusion platform for free – and forever.

"Security holds a place of prominence for mobile developers and users alike, especially in enterprise," the Appdpme team tells us. "Recent studies show that 76 percent of CIOs mark security as the top concern. The problem, 56 percent of enterprises admit, is that with the app security offered today, companies are unlikely to detect a sophisticated mobile threat."

Though enterprises want mobile security, the process of adding tight security to an application is often an expensive and time-delaying task for developers.

"The demand for mobile security is higher than it has ever been, but there's an enormous disparity in how it's being supplied and leveraged in the market,” said Tom Tovar, the CEO of Appdome. "We've invested more than 3 years and $30 million in developing a top notch mobile security suite and want enterprises to benefit from our continued investment in this area."

Appdome's security suite is a comprehensive mobile security offering featuring:

    • Mobile DLP including data at rest encryption, secure data container, and copy/paste protection.
    • Advanced App Protection including blocking of application tampering, reversing, debugging, and pharming.
    • OS Integrity including Jailbreak and Root protection.
    • Secure Mobile Communications including man-in-the-middle and session hijacking protection.
    • Mobile Compliance including FIPS 140-2 compliance.

Comprehensive Mobile Security Suite Free of Charge Forever
Startup’s Technology Solves Mobile Security Frustration, Automates Mobile App Integration
    Oct 18, 2016

Redwood City, Calif. – Oct. 18, 2016 – Looking to ensure the broad adoption of mobile app security, Appdome, the mobile industry’s first cloud service that automates mobile integration, has taken the bold step of offering its award-winning security suite to all users of its new mobile integration AppFusion platform for free – forever.

Security holds a place of prominence for mobile developers and users alike, especially in enterprise. Recent studies show that 76 percent of CIOs mark security as the top concern. The problem, 56 percent of enterprises admit, is that with the app security offered today, companies are unlikely to detect a sophisticated mobile threat.  Enterprises expect mobile security, but the process of adding tight security to an application is often an expensive and time-delaying task for developers.

“Mobile productivity needs apps which need security and until comprehensive, fine-grained and scalable security is available, mobile development will be stifled and real mobile productivity beyond PIM will always be a challenge,” explains Chris Marsh of IT research and consulting firm 451 Research, “[Businesses] need ways to assert a strategic security posture across the full range of app, device and network threats that mobile technologies are exposed to.”

“The demand for mobile security is higher than it has ever been, but there’s an enormous disparity in how it’s being supplied and leveraged in the market,” says Tom Tovar, CEO of Appdome. “We've invested more than 3 years and $30 million in developing a top notch mobile security suite and want enterprises to benefit from our continued investment in this area.”

    Accelerating Secure Mobile Development

AppFusion is a new general purpose mobile integration technology that allows multiple services and SDKs, even from different vendors, to be fused to a single application. Through the intuitive, cloud-based platform, users can easily add complete mobile SDKs and other capabilities such as Appdome’s complete mobile security suite to app binaries, and render a fused application in minutes. This delivers secure mobile apps from day one and eliminates the need for long-lead integration.

With the launch of the AppFusion platform, Appdome aims to accelerate mobile development, empowering users with the ability to easily and readily solve security and integration challenges, so that developers can focus on building great apps.

“By allowing mobile developers and app providers to add a comprehensive mobile security solution to their apps, we will speed up the development of secure mobile apps, guarantee security for mobile app users from first use, and enable mobile users to discover new applications,” adds Tovar.

Offering A Complete Mobile Security Solution

Appdome’s security suite is a comprehensive mobile security offering that provides users the security they demand and app providers easy integration. Features include:

    • Mobile DLP including data at rest encryption, secure data container, and copy/paste protection
    • Advanced App Protection including blocking of application tampering, reversing, debugging and pharming
    • OS Integrity including Jailbreak and Root protection
    • Secure Mobile Communications including man-in-the-middle and session hijacking protection
    • Mobile Compliance including FIPS 140-2 compliance

Immunize apps against XcodeGhost and other harmful 3rd party code
    Oct 1, 2015

AppDome, the market leader in mobile application protection, announced today that mobile app owners who use AppDome, its dynamic application App Fusion, can consider their mobile app immune to the XcodeGhost attack vector.

A vulnerability aimed at exposing data-at-rest, XcodeGhost infects the iOS compiler and compromises an app before it even makes it to the App Store. This is a significant security issue for financial services companies and other enterprises who own mobile apps, many of which store customers’ personal data and server login information.

App fusing is a process that provides an extra layer of security once a mobile app’s development and testing phases are complete. AppDome’s AppDome provides protection against a wide range of threats, including OS-related issues and use of malicious or privacy- infringing 3rd party SDKs or plugins.

“As with XcodeGhost, app developers use 3rd party code to streamline the development process – which often includes either malicious, vulnerable or privacy-infringing code without their knowledge,” says Avi Yehuda,  Chief Technology Officer, AppDome.

“While secure coding is essential to any mobile app security strategy, it’s clear that companies need a consistent, high-security, tool-based approach that doesn’t impede release cycles or app performance.”

The company’s multi-layered App Fusion solution implements pharming prevention  across all communication channels. As a result, once malicious code is detected, the appropriate preventative action is automatically applied by the App Fuse. In this specific case, it acts to nullify the impact of the XcodeGhost threat.

    About AppDome

AppDome provides an essential shield that secures enterprise and consumer-facing apps from advanced cyber threats, mobile fraud and data leakage. Recognized by Gartner as a 2015 Cool Vendor in Mobile Security, AppDome helps organizations find the right balance between security and usability in the mobile threat landscape.

AppDome’s dynamic App Fusion solution is based on the application binary level, which completely eliminates the need for source code modifications and SDK integration during the development life cycle.

The company’s dynamic app protection technology is used by the world’s leading financial, healthcare and eCommerce enterprises to ensure productivity, compliance, and security for consumers and employees.

AppDome, the market leader in dynamic mobile application protection and secure enterprise mobility, announced that it has been recognized for its innovative dynamic App Fusion technology as a Cool Vendor in Gartner’s Cool Vendors in Mobile Security and IoT Security 2015, report published on April 23.

AppDome’s app shielding solution can securely fuse any mobile application at the app binary level, meaning no source code modifications or SDK integrations are required during the development life cycle. This results in apps that are secured within minutes with state of the art cyber protection, and without any impact on the users’ native experience or on the performance of the application.

Tal Gilat, CEO of AppDome commented: ‘We are extremely honored to be named in Gartner’s ‘Cool Vendors’ list. We believe this recognition by Gartner’s leading analysts will help pave the way for widespread adoption of secure App Fusion as a standard in mobile application development and protection”

Avi Yehuda, CTO and founder added: “We believe this designation serves as further affirmation of the advantages of the App Fusion approach allowing rapid protection of mobile applications with no source code modification or SDK integration.”
